So I got to go to the Hemmingway Home and Museum in Key West Floriday which was unbelievably exciting. I planned it out so I was wearing the "My Fantasy World" shirt and as it turned out there were some beautiful red hibiscuses in the garden that matched the shirt perfectly, or perhaps the shirt matched the pictures.

Not really having read much Hemmingway prior to the trip I decided to check out a couple of books from the public library. I have now decided that I am in love with both Hemmingway and his books. I truly wish I could have met this man while he was alive.

Alas, instead I have to make due with having been to his home and played with the decendents of his polydactyl (six toed) cats. If you head down to Key West I would suggest stopping at the Hemmingway Home and Museum if only to visit with the cats. They are the sweetest things and incredibly patient with the many tourists, and as I mentioned earlier they're six toed cats.

My only warning is to wear cool and comfortable clothing because the house is not air conditioned; however, the house seems to have been built to catch the slightest breeze and there are fans in just about every room.

The tour guides are simply wonderful and appear to enjoy their job, I know I would. One of the greatest things about each of the tour guides I met was that they loved the cats and did not begrudge them complete run of the house. I mean, it's a museum you aren't suposed to touch the furniture, unless you're a cat in which case you can do whatever you please.

Anyway, the house was truly wonderful to visit and the highlight of my day trip to Key West!

Whenever I tell someone that I'm an English Major they automatically ask me if I want to be a teacher. The answer is absolutely not. When I first got to college that was the plan and that's what landed me at Longwood University. I quickly learned that teaching wasn't really for me.

The second question usually is, "So are you going to be a writer?" Again, the answer is no. I would love to have a job where I can write something, anything, and that leaves me with enough spare time to write for myself. That said, I'm not a creative writer nor am I interested in journalism.

Last year I learned that I love Professional and Rhetorical Writing and so I've picked that as my concentration. It's a majorly interesting course of study that really delves into real world writing. I also like to deconstruct the meaning of nonliterary texts in order to see what they say about the "author/creator" and who they intend as their audience.

When looking through the catalog it's interesting to look at a design and see what size and style sold out first. I think that says a lot about who the design appeals to and about the designer as well. Who knows, maybe some day I'll write about that.
