about Someday
To All,

I am looking for someone, anyone, who has a girls' size large Someday t-shirt. Odd endeavor? Yes. It's weird that someone would look But behind it is a story.

My girlfriend and I used to live in Chicago, right around the corner from the Threadless store on N Broadway. We moved there right after college a few years ago. She had bought Threadless shirts before, but now that she lived around the corner from the store and saw them everyday, they kind of turned into her "thing." Every fews months, she would go out and buy a couple of shirts.

Despite being relatively poor and aimless, we both look back on that time fondly. I was struggling to find a job, she was trying to quit hers that was kind of rough, and find a new one. One day she saw came across the "Someday" T-Shirt on Threadless' website, and as odd as it sounds, I've never seen any image, let alone a t-shirt print, so profoundly move her. The duckling (or goosling) captured exactly how she felt: a small fish in big pond, with big dreams, defying her circumstances, and reaching out with the hope and confidence that she will overcome all and grow into something magnificent.

Sadly, none of the t-shirts left were unavailable in her size. A few months later, I finally found a job...in New York. I moved out, but luckily my girlfriend found a new job in NYC as well, and joined me a few months later. She thought it'd be better, but the work was much the same, and instead of following her dreams, she settled for safety and stability. But finally, after a few years, that has changed, and this fall she will be starting grad school. The day she received her first acceptance, the first thing she mentioned, after the usual excitements, was feeling like the duckling in "Someday."

Despite getting all our friends to request one, and the fact that from what we remember, the shirt did sell out rather quickly, Threadless still hasn't done a reprint. They did offer the image as a wall print/decal more than year ago, which I did buy for her, but it's poor quality, peeling off, and "just not the same as the shirt." Now, however, I'm doing what I realize I should have done a long time ago...try to find someone that has one.

It would absolutely thrill her and make her exceedingly happy if I could hand her one of these t-shirts, especially now, and I'm trying to figure out a way to make that possible. So if you know anybody that has one in girls' large, or if you own one yourself, please get in touch with me (Obviously I'm willing to pay for the shirt and shipping it to NYC). And of course, please request a reprint of the shirt that has inspired my girlfriend and many others so much.
