I am busy with a project that I don't want to discuss fully until it's critique-ready, but I need to sound out an idea before I embark on this work.

As a small-ish part of the design, I need a world leader who symbolises atrocity of some or other form. Hitler is the easiest to make recognisable, and is generally hated enough by everyone (except for Bernie Ecclestone), but is he out of bounds?

I've caused enough crap by handing in an illo of George W that I had lying around, and more recently by replicating an famous artwork, so I'm eager not to take it in the neck again.

If Hitler is out of bounds, or too borderline, who should I choose? The leader of North Korea might work... Saddam... Osama? Some of these things might still hurt. Suggestions?

Thanks you guys.
Jordan

Personally I would steer clear of any political leaders on Threadless, period. But that's up to you.

hitler isn't so much untouchable as t-shirt design goes as most people wouldn't wear an image of hitler no matter what kind of negative light it displays him as.

so, i don't think people would get pissed, but there's a good chance it won't score many $'s.

Thanks Ginette. I appreciate it.

Political leaders are dodgy, I agree, which is why Hitler might be alright, because he's enough of a caricature not to be thought of in political terms. I still think he might be a bit offensive to wear.

It's not like the shirt focuses on him in the slightest though... Oh bother, maybe I'll just quickly get it up onto the critiques page, and I'll ask again.

Do Kim Jong Ill or whatever his name is. North Korea guy. He's generally more funny than terrifying though.

the only way id wear a shirt with hitler or anything nazi related on it, would have to be as creative and successfully executed as those done by John Heartfield.

"hitler is always good on cats. . ."

Funny, it is cat related.

It also just occurred to me that VW are a German company. I wonder if that'll be a problem (it's for the design challenge). This bit of the design might be more trouble than it's worth.

Maybe the North Korean chap, although he doesn't need any more provocation, it seems. Rats.

I dig the little collection of hitler spoofs gathering here. There's actually a buttload of them online, I notice while hunting for reference.
