I thought this was a pretty interesting article over at speakup:
http://www.underconsideration.com/speakup/archives/002437.html#002437 Basically, this supposedly high-profile "interactive design" firm requires that before you are considered for an interview, you must complete a test (go to the link to see what the test consists of, it is pretty extensive). Almost everyone who posted in the comments for that article agree that it is absolutely ridiculous and they would never take that test, but they all seem to be older, securely employed designers. There seem to be a few more younger, starving students in this community, and we all already give free design work to threadless, so I'll bring the question up here - Would you consider taking that test to be considered for an interview? Or... Is it a joke/prank? The "swoosh" part of the test kind of pushes it over the edge of ridiculousness. And the way they just say "design a logo" makes it seem like they do not have very much respect for the design process or the interaction required between client and designer to actually make a successful logo. Maybe they WANT you to refuse to take the test to show you have respect for yourself as a designer? =p probably not.. You must be logged in to leave a comment.
