Nice idea. I really like this but the shadow of "Friday" bothers me a little. Until I realised it was a shadow I thought it said something else underneath Friday... maybe make it more obvious that it's the shadow of Friday... if that makes any sense.
Thanks guys. David T, I was really struggling with the shadow - any suggestions on how I might make it more obvious? Make the shadow thinner, lighter, halftone, etc?
Also, I'm aware of the Monday design - granted this is exactly the opposite of it, but do you think it stands on its own? Or is it too similar in concept to fly here?
Maybe shorten the shadow so you can see the tops of the letters before they go into the cloud. That way it might be easier to read the shadow as saying Friday? But i might be being to picky. It looks great as is.
no no no... i think it stands.... and yet is awesome too...
what i said was just in an sort observation... just like... wow... it be really great to have both... aheiohaioehae.. and make a kind of a joke.
as for the shadow... maybe if you used a halftone... or even a mix of halftone+plain color... i dunno...
i dont think its similar at all to monday. i wouldnt have picked up on that. i think whats happening with the shadow is right now it is holding more visual weight than what is creating it. maybe try the halftone fade from purple to the shirt color? or maybe just make the purple a slightly darker blue than the shirt. or a balance of lightening the shadow and slightly darkening the casting letters? youve worked out a nice composition for this.
Some great things to consider, thanks corey! I'll play around with the shadow a bit. Roadkill and ecsu, yellow huh? Maybe a third color wouldn't be so bad. Hmm.
I agree with corey9's suggestions. And I think making them unicorns would be a really nice touch. This is a bloody marvelous idea and will make a great T
Thanks so much you two! Unicorns were actually my original idea, but I wondered it might be too much? I do like the idea of Friday being surrounded by mythical animals though.
i'd like to see the lettering resting on the clouds. i think a bright yellow/orange sunburst behind the lettering would help convey the idea here. i dig the halftone work.
Thanks! I agree that it might be interesting with the text on the clouds, but I wanted to go with this running down a hill feel. Also, I'm lazy and just about ready to sub this guy. Any more last minute advice?
I did try an orange, Hector, but I liked the yellow better. Thanks though! And thanks everyone again for some excellent suggestions - I think it's much improved.
I'm liking this a bit more than the Monday punch in the gut shirt. lol. I would liked even more craziness and fantastical pieces coming out from behind the word, but still really awesome and a sure 4$ or 5$ when i getz to votin on it.
Aw, thanks you two! Evan if I ever do a resub with this, I'll be sure to add a flying Pegasus or three and a giant phoenix too - it would be kind of cool to do an even more over-the-top version, but I was impatient and am just trying to crank some stuff out to get back into the rhythm of subbing...
Thanks escu, good call with the yellow! Tonteau, I'll put up a link to the version on cream when it's up for voting. Or do you have another suggestion?

Oh hey, thanks Jess and Pam! I was too immersed in election news to nurse my sub, but thankfully it's all over for now and I can think about things again.
Like, how my favorite Friday song is Friday from late 70s Joe Jackson.
make them unicorns hehe
nice job with the haftones
