So some time around the start of the week I read "Twilight" by Stephanie Meyer, then last night I bought the sequel "New Moon" and finished it earlier today (all 600 odd pages of it), and tomorrow I'm buying the next book as soon as work is out.

I'm totally in love with these books, and worse than them just being "young adult fiction" they are basically a high school vampire romance.

(I'm 25 dammit!)

I am so ashamed.

the only thing that disappoints me is that the movie will probably suck. but i'll be compelled to watch it anyways. *sigh*

its the rabid fangirls that ruin it for everyone.

Oh yeah, I don't even want to go NEAR the rabid fan girl thing :P

and I'm kind of excited about the movie too, but it's never as good if you read thee book first. All the same, I can't wait :)

I'm just really dreading finishing Eclipse and then having to wait for Breaking Dawn, and then not having any more to come :(

Staffell: I think you mistake looking dead for being groomed to death

oh, don't feel bad about reading YA fiction. that would be like feeling bad about going to a PG-13 movie. sometimes YA means it's aimed at people in their late teens, but it can also mean that it's unsuitable for younger readers.

besides. potboilers are fun.

I'm almost 30 and I will still go to the YA section of the library and checkout Nancy Drew books or other childhood staples.

There's nothing wrong with a book you can read in 1-2 hours :) Literary Junkfood has its place. And its a place of honor at my house.

I'll have to checkout your new obsession, it sounds good.

Staffel: They look dead because all but the girl at the front are vampires. As for what it is, that's a poster for the upcoming movie version.

Leon: it's not a romance set in a vampire highschool, it's a highschool romance where some of the main characters happen to be vampires =P

(and there is plenty of action and suspense as well, but at its core it's a love story).

And thanks everyone else for trying to make me feel a bit better about it :)

I know there's nothing wrong with reading YA fiction, and I don't feel bad about that. The thing I'm mildly embarrassed about is just how much I love these books. I haven't been so engrossed and caught up in a fictional world since I *was* a teenager with a huge and vivid imagination, spending all of my time reading and having adventures in my head.

...and yes, the Harry Potter books are pretty damn engrossing too =)

My user name is from the Narnia series. Enough said.

And I've read all the Harry Potter books. Some of them twice.

How did I know you were talking about the Twilight series before I even opened this thread? That's wierd. I havent read them yet, I almost bought them from the bookstore out of curiosity though. I know what you mean about YA books though. You kinda feel just a little geeky cause you enjoy it so much, when it's written for a younger audience.

I'd like to point out the fact that the authors, who are generally much older than you or I, are coming up with stuff for the YA age group. Do you feel any better?
