Hey.
I'm one of those threadless '08 noobs who was lured here by a friend. and when i first showed up, i thought "WOW this place is pretty killer!" make your own shirts!, get paid for it!
i love it :P

and so, i slowly became addicted (i havent been here very long)

and i was looking around through some of the designs this morning, like i usually do, and i noticed that-the very well executed designs and, even printed shirts-have very very low ratings. 2-3 sometimes even a 1!

THATS HORRIBLE!
i know it doesnt affect anything if their all ranked poorly and i understand that people wanna look goood and w.e. but COME ON!

people sometimes spend hours of their time making designs, some times even days! and when it all comes down to it and they see their final score. as a "1.29" or a "2.45" can almost be depressing! I for one would think "wow... that was pretty worthless... is it even worth it?"

it really bothers me that people dont pay the artist the respect they deserve.
but theres 6 ratings people!!
use em!

Need an example? try this:

0 = hardly any work and very poor quality/style (omg that actualy makes me puke)

1= a little work and better quality/style (gross!)

2 = some work and acceptable wearabilty (whatever...)

3 = acceptable work and wearability (sure! yeah.. its alright)

4= great quality/positioning of work i'd deff wear that!

5 = HOLY CRAP I WANT THIS SHIRTS BABIES!

after a while on this site, i realized that these rankings have a very different meaning to the majority of people.
where:
0=meh, its pretty good
1=yeah thats nice
2=sweet!
3=HEYHEY!
4=HEYHEY!!
5=HEYHEY!!!

your "0" is the equivilent of my "3"
ftl people. ftl.

agreed. my base score is a 1. a 5 is reserved for perfection.

That's the most generous scoring guide I think I've ever seen.

I sort of feel like I'm supposed to score low, because everyone seems to score low. But more and more I realise that a lot of voters are idiots. I think it's ridiculous that a 1.5 is likely to see your design dropped early, while a 2.5 is likely to see your design printed.

In the end, Threadless decide what prints but I do tend to agree that a lot of folks must be pretty mean about scoring.
Nice to know that ther are lots of folks that DO appreciate the effort that goes into a design though.
Some of the designs submitted are terrific art but not suitable for a shirt. It would be good if someone could set up an illustration agency based on the work submitted here.
