I think skulls are overdone for the rock look not the retro look you know

well I wouldn't call the palette retro, it looks like CMYK, which is a more modern palette. I don't want to knock it, but I don't think it will do very well.

skulls are definitely overdone and if you want to deal with a cliche'd or overdone theme you really have to do something completely new with it or no one will care. add a twist or have it stylized in a way we haven't seen before etc.

honestly, this design is nothing special really, and there's a good chance that it will drop and little chance of it getting printed (in my opinion). it's just a black outlined skull with paint spatters which is totallyyy overdone (though that pattern in the skull is different and interesting it's not interesting enough to have given this a twist).

also those paint splatters are copy paste and that's really frowned upon here because it just makes the designer seem lazy (copy-paste can certainly be used correctly if the concept needs it but it's not needed in this design).

rock skulls are retro. it's the same thing = "Retro is a term used to describe aspects of modern culture which are consciously derivative or imitative of those trends, modes, fashions, or attitudes of the recent past which have or had come to be seen as unfashionable."
