i have a single speed, but with coaster breaks.....because thats how i do, i coast.....

there only for the road really, so if you have any terrain whatsoever, there not very good because you cant switch gears, but they are often times very light weight and can go pretty fast. they are really good for cities.

Pros:

easy to maintain

simple

cheap

extremely light

better endurance

better sense of perception

cons:

bad on the knees

almost exclusive to road use

no coasting, the pedals move as the wheel moves

youre prolly going to die

Oh yeah, they do. Passing bikers on a curvy road in a car is hard. :(
