My great-grandfather left my great-grandmother and his baby daughter to move to Chicago and become one of these one-man-band dudes. I think he wanted to be a real musician, but settled for playing parades and celebrations as a walking spectacle.

On his death bed he managed to contact my grandma, his daughter, who drove from Iowa to see him. Not only did she get some closure in life by making amends with her long lost father, but within his mattress and the trunk of his car she found over $100,000.

Apparently the one-man-band business is a lucrative one.

Congrats!

After nearly a month, we have finally finished our collab! It's always fun to see the process (well, at least to me), so I figured I post the multiple stages we went through to get there. Much thanks to alvarejo for his multiple suggestions/feedback and phil for the pres help.

Quick concept sketch I send doodle of a guy surfing on a whale's tail:


He likes the idea (yay), so I draw up a surfer and send it his way:


Doodle follows up with a cute whale and fun idea of having the waves emerge from the whale's blowhole:


I absolutely love the sketch and use alvarejo's advice to incorporate some more movement:


Doodle begins coloring the design:


I begin finishing the surfer and shoot over a quick version with much more movement and excitement:


Doodle polishes the image and adds his signature halftone clouds:


After I clean up the water and add some small seagulls to the background, Phil provides some awesome flash and a baby is born:

Some progress for a new collab that I've been working on with the multi-talented rossmat8.

It's still a bit away from being done - need to finish the swing-set, add some trees, smooth out lines, etc. Any and all feedback/criticism/thoughts/ideas are more than welcome.
