Hey folks,


seeking advice...

i have a client who wants me to put the logo of his company on his bike helmet... anyone have experience painting plastic that can give me an idea of what kind of paint to use, etc.?

I'd guess you need to lightly sand off whatever is on it first. And from a DIY non-professional standpoint, you can use anything as long as you put enough layers of whatever finish you use and sand it down. If you have access to something that can cut decals, that sounds way easier.

yeah it's a weird helmet... like it's not a flat surface... it has a bunch of holes and waves... i might try printing on vinyl and cutting around the holes or something...

strip it to a bare surface then just paint it with auto paint or fancy paint markers.

Just print it out on an inkjet, then attach it using Scotch® tape. For extra flare, lightly apply some Elmer's Glue® (ask a parent for permission) and sprinkle on some glitter.

The shell of the helmet can be damaged by some paints... It may even melt it a bit. Take it to a bike shop and ask them what is recommended. I know they have a bunch of special touch-up paints at the shop I go to. Not sure if they would work on a helmet though.

Those helmets can get damn expensive too, so dont screw it up.

the client should just get a helmet cover and have a logo/design screened onto that.

get a custom mold, and vacc-u-form the thing.
