It's my first sim process sub, do you think I should try to make it with halftones?

Nice idea! I think you should tweak sharpness and contrast in a few places. The shadow under the butter looks very sharp while the letters on the edges are a little blurry. Sim process is fine!

I think darker syrup would communicate the concept a little better. Right now it looks like honey. :-) Looks great!

I think you should pursue this one. It's so different from your usual stuff.
I also think darker syrup would create a better contrast.

I really liked it. It's right between photo-realistic and illustrative look, the balance is very very well. I'd go with the darker syrup. But you have to change the butter a bit, it looks like a piece of paper.
