I've posted about them before, but feel the need to do so again as I'm fighting one off. Really? Ugh, it's so frustrating! And such a simple thing - I have a roommate now to save on monies when I didn't used to, and this is teh second night she's lived here and when she came home my stomach just started doing leaps. Granted, she came home with her boyfriend which I wasn't expecting, but still. . . .my bodies reaction is really getting on my nerves! Why can't I just shrug things off?

i think you're sexually attracted to her. :p jk

hmm, have you been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder? are you taking any meds or learning meditation techniques?

no meds, and I have PTSD for which I did learn breathing techniques.

I learned to control mine and over time decreased the severity and frequency. Stay strong!

I hate panic attacks! I always feel like I'm short of breath and nauseous. I lose all color and my eyes get huge and glassy. So attractive.

i think that, since your living arrangements are still fresh, your mind is having to adjust to this, therefore, your body is reacting to the newness of it all. it's natural. i'm not a doctor, i just play one on tv. ;P

are your breathing techniques helping at all? what seems to help you the most?

Well, this time I knew teh minute it hit (stomach and rash is what I get, also attractive). I am rational. At least I recognize not to trust those first thoughts (try and break the lease and move to a more expensive 1 bedroom! Also, quit the job because that's new and aggravating you!) and breathe.

it's good that you realize what's happening.
you are lucky because a lot of people do not realize and cannot rationalize like you can.
have you ever tried to write down your feelings when an attack comes on? for instance, "why am i feeling this way? what triggered it? how can i prepare myself for a similar situation? does it have something to do with not being totally in control of a situation? can i let it go? how can i better deal with a change in routines? etc"

I'm so sorry to hear that B7! Yeah, it sucks. And it's not like it's that often for me (once a semester, so about twice a year, or insomnia when I travel).

panic attacks are the worst, I really hope you are okay! Just breathe and remember the feeling you have during a panic attack are just because you are having high anxiety, breathe, and try to relax the best thing I used to do was just try to ignore everything and concentrate on my breathing when you do this you can slow your fast heart rate and this will help you calm down. Just think regular breaths=regular heart beats=steady and calm :) hope that helps

yeah, all the responses help, thanks so much! There have been so many things not just the roomie, including talking to a person about 'distance' because he is a trigger. I had a summer class with him, and told the professor who was good about separating us, but I have one final class with him and the professor is kind of a superstar and didn't want to have to disclose. breathing is good. . .

hahaha, and just when I think I'm fine, I lay down in bed, turn of the lights- and then don't quite make it to the bathroom before vomiting. most went in the tub (it's right inside the door)
