On the 21st, with Nala, apparently he specializes in small intricate designs.

weeeee, but then he's booked through the new year, lol, but we can get started and see if we can work together or if I should go to another artist.

I wanted to change my name since age 5 - did it maybe 5 years ago or so, wanted a tattoo since I saw my first one- actually, maybe since My Little Ponies, those toys TOTALLY advocate tattooing your identifying object on your ass.

I called yesterday to confirm, got confirmed, went to the address they told me - it was an empty lot. On each side was a building, then that one was a little rubble behind chain-link fence. So I was thinking, what the hell? Then I thought I got the number wrong since it wasn't near the cross-street I was told. I went to the cross street - saw the place. They told me the wrong STREET, the number was correct.

I get there, that tattoo artist is gone. The receptionist said they called to confirm and I didn't. I asked them which phone number they used - the wrong one was quoted. Then I asked about ME calling to confirm and the receptionist said he knew nothing about it but would talk to me about my design. But he's not the tattoo artist! The guy had left for the day. So the receptionist says a. the shirt he's wearing refers to crack (I asked him about the design) and b. can't do my design. But I've been talking to them since August!

Then after telling me he can't do the design he says he'll give it to the artist to play with and there's a design fee - which I said, per the e-mail, didn't exist.

So he apologized and left a note for the tattoo artist I'm supposed to see. Needless to say, I'm not feeling confident anymore. Anyone know a good tattoo artist in NYC?

I called another place, the guy who specializes in small tattoos, they said they don't like doing them inside the wrist because they wear off too soon (4-7 years) and need constant touch-ups and maintenance.

So at least in NY, seems like I'm not getting one, or not on the inside of my wrist like I wanted :(

Now to rethink everything.

it depends on how low on the wrist. some artists will stop about 2 inches from the palm of your hand. fyi, mine is about 5 yrs old and looks fine. :)

oh, and it's your body, and it's your tattoo. so find an artist that's willing to work with you, not tell you you're dreamin' when you say what you want.

i would run away from that place so fast. that place sounds super sketchball.

i'm sure there are tons of good places in nyc...i live in cali, so i can't help you out, but what i've done is just gone up to people with really nice tattoos and just ask them who they recommend. i've done that a ton where i live, and all the ones i like seem to be done by this one guy, so that's who i'm going to if i ever decide on what i want. :)

Yeah, I was disappointed with the first one. IT came reccomended but the guy who did the tattoos on the guy who reced it isn't there anymore so I have to look him up.

Then the second, to just tell me no over the phone w/out seeing where on the wrist (yes, a couple inches down) ugh.
