My design has got me all stuck

So I've got this design in the critiques, and I keep reworking it and playing with it and redrawing it and such and I just can't seem to get it right. I like the idea, I think it could be cool, but I just can't seem to the get the execution right.

But yeah, it's just not really working out, colors, composition, line quality etc. Some of the characters in the shirt are kind of obscure.... basically I'm just having a tough time with it. Maybe sticking it in a grid and labeling each person, make them all fighting? I don't know. Ideas are welcome.

Thanks, any help I can get, I showed it to some of my friends, and they had a hard time picking them all apart too, they were like, "I don't want someone staring at my chest that long."

Yeah, I think with the way a lot of people vote here (and what a lot of us look for in shirts) you need to wow people with your art or lol them with your joke in the first couple of seconds.

Most people aren't going to look at it for longer than that.

alright, so i just posted some comments, but now that ive actually thought about it, im sure that everyone has told you the same things.

if there could just be some stronger cohesion?

what, for example, made you choose those particular superpeople?
if you could find some way to tie them all together, itd be easier to understand at a glance who each person is without staring at the shirt for 20 minutes

Yeah, basically I went down a list of comic book characters that had some symbolic representation and then illustrated them. For example, I decided to draw cyclops but not the hulk. How would I draw "the hulk"... yeah, so I just picked all of them that had a name that could be taken in a different illustratable way.

Captain America, Cyclops, Joker, Professor X, Batman, SpiderMan, Bishop, Iron Man, Omega Red, Red Skull, Green Lantern, Nightcrawler, Chameleon, Cable, Wolverine, Kingpin, Doctor Octopus, Scarecrow, Penguin, Catwoman, Ghost rider, and ... that's it.
