I just bought a Wii over the weekend, and was wondering if you guys have had any experience using the Wii fit, or any of those other Wii fitness programs.

I have a big ass.

I want my ass to be less big.

Discuss.

My mom uses the yoga thing relatively frequently. She said it works.

I have no experience with the Wii or any of its offspring, mainly 'cause these new consoles confuse the fuck outta me. That and I just think that good ole exercise is the best way to go, but each to their own!

Also, I was just about to tell you that I'm going to SoCal in July and wanted to ask if you could meet up, but then I remembered that you moved to Portland! ;_;

If you keep at it, I'm sure it works. I've never used it, but I've heard of people being sore after using it.

annnnnna, you're going to socal when i'm not there? boo! you have to come to portland too!

yea i get your point(s) that exercise is what works, but i thought it might be interesting to try it out. i have TONS of permanent injuries from being a long-distance runner in high school and college, so my options are really limited. i guess i should have mentioned that. i really wish i could run or kickbox, which is what i love to do, but i can't, so i'm looking at other options.

A close friend of mine has lost 50 pounds using his wii fit (went from 190 to 140 in about a year)... and relief pitcher Heath Bell, of the San Diego Padres, lost 25 lbs in the past off season by using it.

if it's exercise like, exercise videos but with more interactions i don't know why it wouldn't work???

plus it seems more fun.

*grabs holly's ass*

yeah it's making you move your body, so you are burning calories and everything-just wondering if the intensity is good and if it really tracks what you're doing and all that. seems like people are having success w/ it, so i think i'm gonna try it. what's another $80 if you've just bought a gaming system, right? ;)

phiff! honey! yay!! i'm still in awe that you keep bees. so awesome.

I guess I saw Wii Fit not as a main form of exercise, just an alternative to playing a video game...much like how frozen yogurt is an alternative to ice cream. It isn't like frozen yogurt is necessarily the healthy choice or what you *should* eat, but if you're in the mood for ice cream, fro yo is a healthIER choice.

I don't know if that analogy made sense...but basically if you want to lose weight you have to exercise and if you're gonna play video games you could do wii fit so at least you're moving around a little.

I don't know just my opinion. I was too lazy to read everything else so sorry if this has been addressed/mentioned.

Mmm, is it better than SITTING and playing a video game? Yes. Will it get you slightly more active? Yes.

Is it a good substitute for proper diet and exercise? Not really.

It'll only work if it does make you more active and you still eat the same or less. If you play the Wii Fit but eat an extra pizza every day it's not going to do much for you at all.

EA active is a waayyyyy better workout. It will kick your ass, plus you don't need to buy the board. Wii Fit is ok as a scale, but you can never really get a great workout because of all the damn menus that you have to click through to get to the next workout segment

for sure, moto...i get the whole healthy lifestyle thing. i was just curious if anyone had any success using this as an exercise tool, since i can't do much physically due to my injuries. :)

i have wii fit. i think it's personally better more for balance and strength training activities than aerobics, since all they have is the long distance run, but... i've never worked up a sweat running it, and i'm totally out of shape.
