  It's not the exchange rate on the day you order. They are set monthly and can be checked here:

  USD is 1.5664 this month so you can currently spend up to 18x that amount which is $28.19

  Anything over this though and you will get charged VAT on the whole order value PLUS shipping.

  So a $30 order with $9 postage that should have been under £25 ends up costing around £29 which isn't so bad, but then the £8 royal mail fee brings it to £37.

  Nearly 50% of the total in taxes and fees!
