Hi,

I am Jaap a marketing student from Holland and at the moment working at my dissertation. I give away 6 gift certificates to members of Threadless whom fill out the 5-7 min questionnaire.
Everybody is welcome, designers, criticasters, maintainers and even people who just hang out here at Threadless.com.

The aim of the research is relationship marketing and I want to know from you guys what attracts you the most, what brings the most value to you from this website. Is it the actual designs, the content, or the members.

i'm not totally sure if that questionnaire will be very conclusive for you. you'll find out that there are vastly different types of community members here. there are: bloggers, shirt buyers, blogging/shirt buyers, submitting designers, blogging designers, voters, blogger/voters, voter/buyers, designer/voters, etc.... i think you get the point.

what i'm saying is, the variety of answers that you get might should (and I'll be qualifying that "should" in my next sentence) be going in completely different directions. however, since your questionnaire was directed towards the blogging participants of the site, you've cut a lot of the possible data out of the equation.

with that... i'm not sure how one goes about tracking down member of the community that don't blog or participate other than with their credit cards. i guess that's your problem.

best of luck. i'd be really interested to read what you come up with (as I know another marketing student working on a similar thesis, and I'll be reading her papers as well).

Thanks a lot Dan. After the data has been gathered I will have to make groups out of it, like you say. When that is done I hope to find a correlation between the different groups of participants and their attraction factors. The limitations are as with any research big, but the research scope is relationship marketing and customer involvement. I am not looking per se for people whom just purchase. Thanks for your advice may be I am going to send the questionnaire to some of the designers directly.
