At the moment I'm trying to do draw a robot everyday, so I thought I'd post them here as I do them. Go to the flickr pages to see them bigger and read the accompanying bits of story. Enjoy, and feel free to join me by posting your own robotic creations!

Rose! How could you stop liking robots? (unless they decimated your town and ate your family or something, then I'd understand)

Jon, this is ace!

This makes me like robots beyond the boundaries of Kraftwerk-land.

Blossom!!!

I was listening to Kraftwerk during the creation of at least two of these robos

Blossposs: I've been good thanks, just driftin, drawing some robots, the usual- I was just thinking earlier today that I should email you and see how you were, cos I haven't spoken to you in aaaaaages (I've hardly been on threadless either)- how is everything?

blossompossum on Feb 15 '09 at 3:24pm
Aye, it's been a while! Everything's going well, thanks--I have a week off now, so I've been catching up on some books I've been planning on reading and the like. It's quite nice.

Rose!!

Well, the last two books I finished were 1984 by George Orwell, and Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer. I'm reading a collection of short stories by Nikolai Gogol right now, and plan on taking out The Outsider by Albert Camus when I'm finished.

Yeah, it's a nice feeling. That's good to hear!
BaronVonMonkey
   BaronVonMonkey on Feb 15 '09 at 3:41pm
Try and read the Camus definitely - I haven't read Into the Wild, is it good? I just googled it, and the whole 'going to get lost in the arctic wastes' thing sounds quite appealing- not so much the death by starvation though

   BaronVonMonkey on Feb 15 '09 at 3:42pm
Oh, and thanks ratkiss!

blossompossum on Feb 15 '09 at 3:48pm
I liked the book. It's basically a study of a young guy who decided to travel rough after leaving college: his motivations, the places he traveled to, the people he met, etc. He left a pretty privileged background behind and didn't leave his family any clues as to where he'd gone. It's an interesting book, for sure.

the movie Into the Wild is real good, too.

Ack, I'm being lax with my robot drawing- I need inspiration!!
blossompossum
blossompossum on Feb 21 '09 at 3:36pm
It seems all your robots are the result of some evil creator living in the desolate depths of the wild or something, so maybe you should place them in a different environment? But then again, that would probably change the robots quite a bit.

Maybe you should tell a story of the mysterious robot race?
BaronVonMonkey
   BaronVonMonkey on Feb 21 '09 at 3:38pm
Ah, well funny you should say that, I was actually plotting out the story of a whole mysterious robot tribe living on a remote Pacific undiscovered by adventurers...
blossompossum
blossompossum on Feb 21 '09 at 3:42pm
Unfortunately, it appears I was seeing this from the point of view where robots need creators...
blossompossum
blossompossum on Feb 21 '09 at 3:43pm

Creationist conspiracy!
blossompossum
blossompossum on Feb 21 '09 at 3:48pm
Well, maybe I was talking about biogenesis as opposed to abiogenesis. Didja think of that? Huh?

This is a very deep robotic existential crisis.

Your dad is a dude
blossompossum
blossompossum on Feb 21 '09 at 3:58pm
Aye, my dad is not only a dude, but a musically-progressive one. WIN!

On a side note, when you mentioned "remote Pacific", I thought of this tribe of Indians living on Vancouver Island who weren't found until sometime in the last century (or at least this is what I think I read).
BaronVonMonkey
   BaronVonMonkey on Feb 21 '09 at 4:19pm
I love those kinda stories- it's so nice to think that there are still things that are undiscovered
blossompossum
blossompossum on Feb 21 '09 at 4:30pm
Yeah, it is, especially when the focus nowadays is always on the next bigger, more efficient thing. The Native Indians here haven't been treated all too well, though...

I'm still entertaining the option of becoming an itinerant vagabond for a few years, but I'm not sure how that would work out. Sigh.

(also, sorry for spamming your blog somewhat)
dacat
   dacat on Feb 21 '09 at 4:31pm
Maybe the story brings in some human who discovers one of them? Or is that too "Iron Giant"-like?
BaronVonMonkey
   BaronVonMonkey on Feb 21 '09 at 4:54pm
Well the way I was writing it was as a collection of travel memoirs of people who came across the mysterious island over the centuries. Kinda Gulliver's Travels-y
