sweetism! with the right color combo this would make a nice belt print tee.

   BaronVonMonkey on Jun 01 '08 at 10:12am
Thanks Eric! - i'm not sure how well it'd work on a tee, but maybe...
EricDiaz
EricDiaz on Jun 01 '08 at 12:33pm
well, this covering the front of the tee and maybe a rotated ¿ on the back but with the words the right way.. ¿Cómo estás?
Oh yea and gray on a black tee!

Ooh I like that idea- whether I've got the patience to rearrange them is another matter!

this is amazing.
I've read over it, and don't see feminism, is it there and I'm just not seeing it?

Thomism = fans of Thom York?
BaronVonMonkey
   BaronVonMonkey on Jun 01 '08 at 4:01pm
Yep, Thomism is a philosophical doctrine based around the theory of 'karma police'. Maybe.

Kirsten- actually, it's not- I was going to put it on there, but decided it was more a social/theoretical movement than a philosophical one. And it wasn't in my philosophical dictionary... But I can put in there and get rid of one of the rubbish ones nobody's heard of. Like Thomism.

I just tried putting this on a tee, and it looked a bit rubbish. I think I need to unsquare it a bit
Madshadow
Madshadow on Jun 01 '08 at 4:57pm
I think this could look cool as a belt print, if you could do that. The color combo may need a change though, (just my opinion)
BaronVonMonkey
   BaronVonMonkey on Jun 01 '08 at 5:12pm
I could do a belt print, though it'd lose the 101-ness, but that probably doesn't matter. But as threadless have printed like one belt print ever I'm never convinced they are the way to go

What's sophism- I'll google
BaronVonMonkey
   BaronVonMonkey on Jun 02 '08 at 7:12am
Thanks Nezbit- Sophism was an ancient greek rhetorical-philosophical movement, though it also means a false argument. But you probably found that out from google

noodlezoop on Jun 02 '08 at 7:24am
: D haha, one of my friends used to dismiss any argument he disliked with an expansive sweep of his hand and a thunderous declaration of "Sophistry!"

I get a kick out of this. I dunno about the green, but that's taste. I really really really like the arrow with "Determinism". One thing, um, I think you misspelled "Transcendentalism", unless there's two kinds.

Nope, you're right, I did- hadn't noticed that! Ta. The colours will probably be a-changin

Thanks!- I've put in the design description that it can work in lots of colours- I liked it green on black, but it didn't seem very popular

well, philosophy i think, is in it's essence a persons ideal towards living.
Madshadow
Madshadow on Jun 10 '08 at 3:03pm
Woah, I think when I first saw this, I completely blocked out the "Question Mark" that is made. I really like it as a print, but the purple and green is also growing on me.
BaronVonMonkey
   BaronVonMonkey on Jun 10 '08 at 3:23pm
Thanks Madshadow- the question mark should hopefully get more obvious the further away you get

taoism?

is that a philosophy?
BaronVonMonkey
   BaronVonMonkey on Jun 10 '08 at 3:38pm
Taoism is the philoophy of 'the way' based on the teachings of Lao-tzu, which is kinda proto-anarchistic, based around a rejection of conventional societal values, and celebrating, well, being a slacker. All good.
shirtflirt
shirtflirt on Jun 10 '08 at 3:39pm
hahaha, i've studied taoism for years and i never really thought of it as a philosphy.

a slacker; hahahaha. you think?
BaronVonMonkey
   BaronVonMonkey on Jun 10 '08 at 3:45pm
Don't you think? It's all about passivity, rejecting worldly pursuits. But I'm no expert

What would you describe it as? Don't you think it fits your idea of 'an ideal towards living'?
shirtflirt
shirtflirt on Jun 10 '08 at 3:48pm
to be honest, my entire view of zen buddhism and taoism have changed slightly after reading a few books on advaita; which is see didn't make your t shirt; perhaps bc it doesn't end in an 'ism'?

it's not about passive as much as it's about abandoning the thought-generated 'self' and tuning into the coursing energy 'tao' that flows through all things from universes to cricket feet.

i think it's a practical application in terms of tai chi and keeping the body as an instrument, and mind as an instrument, clean and smoothly functioing.

yeah, i suppose it's a philosophy, sure!

   tracerbullet on Jun 10 '08 at 3:49pm
i go by the important philosophy of "bros before hos"
