I looked through a bunch of completed submissions and none have anything over 2.4, and most are lucky to have anything over 1! I mean jeez... seems like a bunch of people are going around voting 0 on everything. :/

but that was a while back, when scores were much higher on average. there's no way that design would pull that score now.

Ah, interesting... 4 is pretty high. Which somewhat confirms my suspicions of people voting things down on purpose so everything has a low score. :)

i dont think its so much on purpose more just most people tend to vot on a scale of either 0 or 5 nothing in between which really messes up a subs average

I just think it's the public in general. As the voting community increases the odds of pleasing a majority decreases. Middling scores are the natural result. 2.5 is as average as it can get.

For scores to intentionally be affected to either the positive or the negative you'd have to swing several hundred loyal people to your cause, which would not be easy. The fifty people in your family voting 5 for you and 0 for other people is not going to accomplish anything substantial. I don't think there's any concrete way to even prove that people are willfully voting people down. To me that registers more as a rationalization to people so they don't feel bad about the unimpressive scores for thier designs.

Also, considering the calibre of the really great designs on this site, I'd say that the overwhelming majority of submissions don't deserve more than a 2.

Hmmmm. Just look at the average score? Median rating may well be a truer indication, especially if the field is split on a 'love it or hate it' design.

It seems like 2.6 or higher seems to be the magical swing gate that really makes submissions have a higher average of getting printed, but there are probably a dozen other factors that we don't know about deep in Threadless's Batman-like score analyzing headquarters.

Sometimes wish I coulda been here years ago when it was only like 900 people voting. I'd have all kinds of prints, and would be one step closer to Threadless domination.

The man with no prints says stick with it and you'll break through eventually.

There have been disappointingly low scores for stuff I would like to wear ever since I have been on threadless. However, they seem to be becoming more frequent and lower.

I agree with the last post - fact is I'd wear the shirt. You gotta make what you like, take the positive and negative feedback, and go on. I love it - make some more.

My designs

All about me
Twenty one year old punk rocker who loves to design t-shirts, and loves Threadless, and decided to start making shirts for Threadless. I'm new to this whole thing so don't take it easy on me. Be abrasive as you possibly can. Pain is the path that leads to knowledge. Be honest. Be mean. But above all, be truthful. To yourself and me.
