about Vegetarians are Eating the Rainforests

I do not understand how vegetarians are eating the rainforests...
I do not eat trees.
rainforest=trees.

and not to kill the humor or the moment... but this is fact.

The United States imports roughly 200 million pounds of beef from Central America every year. Aside from the fuel used in transport, grazing land is needed for all of these animals. Where does all that land come from in a densely forested region? The answer: from clear-cutting forests and rainforest A Smithsonian study estimates that the necessity for more grazing land means that every minute of every day, a land area equivalent to seven football fields is destroyed in the Amazon basin(1).
For each hamburger that originated from animals raised on rainforest land, approximately 55 square feet of forest have been destroyed. And its not just the rainforest. In the United States, more than 260 million acres of forest have been clear-cut for animal agriculture (2). With increased per capita meat consumption, and an ever growing population, we can only expect to see more deforestation in the future.

so really, meat eaters are killing the rainforest.

I am a vegetarian have been for a very very long time since i was your age clearly, and this shirt is not offensive to vegetarians, its silly and fun and a joke. I think everyone here is just telling you to relax, and dont be so uptight.

1. it's a joke. It's pretty obviously a joke, so it seems as if you were trying to find a way to shove it down our throats.
2. It's what my sisters used to call me. It has a better ring to it than vegenazi, don't you think?

Seriously, I'm not mad or offended or anything I was just saying that it has been proven that meat consumption is killing the rainforest.

There's really nothing to get, honestly. It's just a non-sensical joke. :)

It's the sort of thing my meat-eating friends say (like "those poor tofu cows") when they're trying to come up with some stupid insult to rile me up.

So, yeah, you obviously know that it's a joke. And it's a stupid, non-factual joke. That's all there is to it.

in the tshirt "flowers in the attic" this girl is shooting herself in the head, and butterflies come out. i shot my friend in the head, and it was only blood. in fact,

When you shoot yourself in the head, butterflies do not come out, blood does.

(it's in italics, even with no source that means it's true.)

so really, butterflies come from caterpillars, not guns and heads.

and wardrobeinspareoom: sorry. I guess I should rephrase it because it isn't as much of the way it is written but how it would sound out loud.
example: one of my biggest pet peeves is when someone says "I seen you yesterday" instead of "I saw you yesterday" it just sounds crazy.

rainforests are cleared for soy fields. just to throw that out there. i'm vegetarian, and that's what i thought the shirt was referring to. a friend of mine always reminds me that i'm killing the rainforests, which makes the shirt funnier.
