I've noticed that Theadless uses plasisol inks. If you look at the shirts for sale, they have quotes like: "Good ol' plastisol inks, 5-color screen print, a chino additive for softness".

Why not use Water-Based Inks?
They have easier cleanup, less "hand" (heaviness on the shirt), and are more Environmentally Safe...

Why not go completely with Water-Based.

It does look like Threadless prefers plastisols.

I've always wondered that myself. I much prefer water based inks but I'm not sure if they provide the range of possibilities with color and such? Plastisol looks like it could be a lot brighter but idk.

Yeah, I was reading that Water-Based are typically pastel or washed-out looking.

Also, plastisols don't dry like Water-Based does.

But there's a new line called Matsui-color. I wonder if they've tried that yet.

I'm interested because I'd like to try a making a few shirts myself, but don't know which is better, plastisol or water-based.

the chino additive makes the ink soft and supple like the inside of a fresh banana peel
