I've gone off Coke

It's taken me close to 30 years, but I've finally gone off Coke. Just now I had a thirst on that would have embarrassed a camel, I bought a coke and it tastes shit. A few years ago I would have bought 2 cans knowing the type of thirst I had, now one large gulp has left me annoyed and slightly despondent.

Have they replaced the sugar with high-fructose corn syrup because in America I was like "WTF is this shit?"

I went off caffeine for a while but when I went back Coke was the best thing ever.

Our water machines at work have been down since last week. I don't trust tap water after I found a dead pigeon in a water tank when I was younger.

It depends where you are, p-c. Some places the tap water tastes good. London water, not so much.

The tap water where I grew up was good. It was hard water. I lived in Edinburgh and the water was so soft, it was like drinking foam. I didn't like it :(

No offence taken. I guess it really comes down to where it is processed. The water here tastes good. The water in Wales is really nice. I filter all the water anyway. Brita ftw.

Abs, I won't tell you of the time I drank water from a hill top fountain in Tenerife only to walk along the pipe and see a bloated dead rat floating in some scum in the fountains tank.

I probably drink far to much diet coke. It's good that it's sugar free and all, but its full of other chemicals and sweeteners. I rarely have regular coke but when I do, I can feel my teeth disintegrating. 2 and a half tablespoons of sugar in each can, I think?

Its funny how you become accustomed to things over time though.
I used to love cows milk then I went over to soya milk. At first it tasted like cardboard but after a while I got used to it. Now I really like it and when I taste cows milk I think yuck that's gross!

Like you said, it's what you're accustomed to, and I used to drink semi, but since having two kids I went back to the joy of full fat (blue top). I can't go back now, though it's shaving a few years off my life.

Me too but I was convinced milk gave me spots and also I 'm not sure about drinking large quantities of another species milk. After all cows milk is for calves.

I dislike American coke, the coke back home is way better, however I have been drinking a lot of it lately and I'm kind of going off it.

But I'm pretty sure I'm addicted, I get cravings for it.

I've never been a big drinker of it. Growing up if the water wasn't boiled we couldn't drink it so I used to drink a lot of 7-Up (in the glass bottles and everything) and milk (often not pasteurized though since we bought it from the Fulani). I had a sweetness craving a few weeks ago so I grabbed a coke and I felt ill after 1/3 of the can. :( Gross stuff.

I'm glad you got off the syrupy stuff Gar0! I usually drink one diet mountain dew a day and on days off and going to a restaurant, two diet cokes, and that's it. I want to get off them entirely but I think it would just cause me to swing back to the sweetest most harmful stuff.

I just don't get drinking all those calories when you can eat so much more tasty things for the same amount or less.

I make sure that in the rare occasion that I do drink a soda that it is with Cane Sugar and not HFCS. So that gives me only a few options: Pepsi/Mountain Dew Throwback, Jones Soda, Guarana Antartica, and any Mexican soft drinks.
