So yeah. Some of you know that a close friend of mine was killed in August in a motorcycle accident. He had no life insurance and his insurance company (that he had the motorcycle coverage through) has been deciding whether or not to pay a $50,000 or $100,000 accidental loss of life. The insurance company's policy states that if he was run over after the accident and the party fled the scene, it would be paid. After a lot of deliberation between the coroner and the accident reconstructionists, there is neither proof he was hit again nor proof that he WASN'T hit again.

Due to all of this, the adjuster (who is instrumental in trying to get this pushed through for my friend's wife) needs a letter of sorts, explaining what's happened since the accident. It needs to be truthful, yet emotional enough that the company decides to pay. Would someone be willing to read it and tell me what they think? It's nearly two pages long in a Word document. It's hard to remain neutral-sounding yet be so emotionally involved. :/

Is it about costs incurred for the wake/funeral, loss of income due to emotional difficulties, stuff like that?

I mean, I don't know a think about insurance or adjusters or any of that. But I'd be happy to be an extra pair of eyes for you.

LOL

My husband is actually their insurance agent and has been working non-stop on their case since it happened. I love that man, holy crap.

I guess we're freaking lucky, then. This guy has to have something in letter form to provide to someone higher up the ladder. :)

This is really hard to read.

I'm so sorry that you've been dealing with this for so long.

Aw, I'm sorry. :/ It was hard to write, but I sort of hurried. It felt good once it was done. I just wish I could do something myself; I swear if I could just win the lottery I'd buy Ava and Ash a house and it would be perfect and they'd be okay. *sigh*

I added another little bit at the end: "In October Ashley ended up having severe stomach pain and eventually it was discovered she’d need to have her gall bladder removed; that went smoothly and she is back to school. However, she missed two weeks of school when Tom died and missed at least a week due to the surgery; they are trying very hard to make it so she can graduate on time."

In case that matters. :)

Do I need to spell out that these surgeries and stuff are costing money they don't really have? Or did I make that obvious enough?

I've got it open as a google doc, and I'm just commenting on individual things as I go along. I'll send you a link/invite (however google docs work!) when I'm done.

My husband just reminded me; I also added in that Ava's grandmother (her mom's mom) died a week after Tom did.

Sara, it's not at my home email either; I have my spam filter off. Not sure if it's some random issue with my email server or what.
