I HATE THAT. In Boston there are a lot of people who are legitimately homeless and I feel terribly for them. Then there are a lot of douchebag pseudo-hipsters who hang out in Harvard Square and have ipods and are assholes if you don't give them money. I wouldn't really care, except that some people give them money and then have no thing for people who legit need a handout. Also, they tend to be jerks.

the only homeless guys i ever cross are always strategically sitting outside the beer store.

it's strange, the only time peole ask me for money is when it's like 10 at night and they have a kid that desperately needs diapers.

Some girl who looked pretty normal once asked me for money for a cab because she lost her purse. I happened to be on my way to my car that was around the corner, so I offered her a ride (again, I stress she looked normal). Turns out she just wanted the money. Why was I surprised?

One time when I was volunteering at a soup kitchen in Manhattan, one of the "homeless" people dropped his cell phone on the floor while he was on line to get food. I really think he wasn't homeless, and that made me sad and angry.

me and my friend one time bummed for change in like 8th grade during the summer. We sat there for like 6 hours. It was stupid but gave us a first hand experience of what it feels like to be completely ignored by a ton of people. It realllyyyy sucked.

weak act! dealing with homeless is such an everyday experience ehere now that i hardly give "i don't have any change" a second thought. except last weekend i decided to give a guy a dollar for whatever reason...

ummm...like 7 cents we stopped after one lady gave us 5 dollars making us promise not to spend it on drugs, and then an old couple gave us a burrito.

That's exactly what I feel.

Yeah, I'll give food. Or subway tickets/tokens in the winter so they can keep warm, though they kick them out.
