Mine was as follows:

1. Off of work; shower. Make some dinner and burn my fingers on a pan becuase i turned on the wrong burner. i always do that. like half the time.

2. Go to Irish pub in my new neighborhood that is only named AFTER MY OWN LAST NAME!!!
stupid line at the door becuase said irish pub is filled with tons of non-irish doofouses. I do not want to wait in line.
(Take note: McNallys will always dissapoint you*.)

3. Bike across town to a BRITISH pub to have a decent Irish Whiskey and Guiness. meet up wiht some friends and we play Scattergories. some fool wins a bike in the Raffle.

4.Bike up to another pub and chat up a jewish chick and the bartender who both spent considerable time in my hometown. I get a compliment I can't deal with. eventuallly receive meager amount of free beer.

5. Bike home, singing/talking/arguing with myself. so I guess pretty typical.

back to humble abode at 1:45ish. should really be going to bed. soon will. yes. Everyone was Irish today right? RIGHT???

*except me. I won't.

Valentine's Special!

Caught in the act! Gorillas mate face to face.

Gorillas have been caught on camera for the first time performing face-to-face intercourse.

Humans and bonobos were the only primates thought to mate in this manner. And while researchers have observed wild gorillas engaged in such an act, it had never been photographed.

"Our current knowledge of wild western gorillas is very limited, and this report provides information on various aspects of their sexual behavior," said Thomas Breuer of the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology. "It is fascinating to see similarities between gorilla and human sexual behavior demonstrated by our observation."

The photographs were taken as part of a study conducted at Nouabale-Ndoki National Park in the Republic of Congo.

The female in the photograph, Leah, also made news in 2005 when she became the first of her kind spotted using tools. Researchers watched her use a stick to test the depth of a pool of water before wading into it.

"Understanding the behavior of our cousins the great apes sheds light on the evolution of behavioral traits in our own species and our ancestors," said Breuer, who led the study. "It is also interesting that this same adult female has been noted for innovative behaviors before."

Who has a job? I has a job! Starting March 1st, I will be catching, trapping, marking, and sampling lizards and rodents for a UC Berkeley Lab. Also collecting and processing ticks for Lyme disease studies. it's like a 90% field job in oak woodlands.
Despite my super awkward interview, I guess I cut the mustard.

I am stoked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so here's the cool thing: If a Lyme disease carrying tick feeds on a Western Fence Lizard, a substance in the lizard's blood neutralizes the disease-causing bacteria, effectively cleansing the tick. So where you have high numbers of fence lizards you have lower prevalence of Lyme disease and lower risk of infection.
I'nt that cool!?

I went to the San Jose Tech Museum yesterday to see the Body Worlds exhibit. Real human bodies, "plastinated". Really cool stuff. Did you know that the thymus gland stops growing after puberty, then sort of dissolves back into the body?
