Gnat Attack!

gnats, harmless yet irritating
although in a swarm that big i could see it causing a few bike wrecks

Craziness. There were thousands of gnats/little flies here in Rensselaer, NY last night. My wife and I walked our dogs and I immediately took a shower when we got home. It was insane.

I hate when gnats go in your eyes, then later you like, wipe your eyes and see little dead gnats on your little finger.

Kinda icky.

There are gnats in our apartment even though we clean up after ourselves and all that.

I think there are dead bodies lining the walls.

I really wasn't exaggerating when I said there were billions of gnats in the air last night; I could barely see. everyone around me was freaking out and running away. my chest was covered with gnats - it was disgusting. if you looked into the air, all you could see were gnats.

I think I just find it weird that some of my other friends in Chciago saw the exact same thing last night, but it's not on any news websites or in any newspapers today.

If anyone can find a link to a news story about it anywhere, please let me know.

A-Ron, that did happen at a Cubs game a couple years back, and its been happening for years. I remember Steve Stone talking about it and why it occurs - there's actually a scientific reason. I'll try to look it up.

while I've never run into that many gnats I can see how that would be awful as even just a minor cloud of them is annoying enough

they were all over cars, buildings, everywhere.

perhaps this is the return of the 9 plagues of Egypt. i have been seeing a lot of little frogs/toads around our area as well.

It happened in 1934 as well. I remember it happening around here a few years back. It was really weird. Not as bad as your description, but there were a lot of swarms of gnats hanging low to the ground.

Phones, that's so weird! I like how they are called "crazy," too.

Last fall there were gnat swarms around where I live... it wasn't as bad as what you said, but it was weird to see spheres of them sort of flying around aimlessly.

No gnats in Toronto, just a big mess of fruit flies, but only when fruit's about.

i hate gnats. here in fl, you walk outside just before sunset and you can see small swarms of them hovering over the lawn.

a few years ago, out on the beach where we have a rental unit, i remember everyone jumping out of the water and running all over the place because of a huge swarm of flying ants.... you could see a cloud of them invading the shoreline.


i hate bugs.
