with the shirts on which they are currently printing for the regular ongoing contest (not the selects) there are no side seams (at least for the guys shirts, i dunno about the gals)

I think that's too big. They do have a size limit. Is it mentioned in the guidelines somewhere?

Most tees don't have seams on the side body of the shirt. There are seams across the top of the shoulder from the neck hole to the sleeve and around the sleeve where it attaches to the body of the shirt.



You can't do a print from shoulder to shoulder because that distance varies wildy from a men's XL to a women's XS. The difference is probably more than six inches. The print shop will only make one set of screens because that is the most costly part of the printing process, and I doubt that Threadless would pay for extra sets of screens to match the shirt sizes. Again, were Threadless to make and print their own tees that may be a different story, but it's not feasible with the price point they've established on this site.



They may use separate screen sets for the Selects, which is another reason why they cost more.

Not here. That's across a seam and too large. There are special machines you can use the do that kind of print, but the process costs more. I think Threadless will eventually allow that kind of thing, but as it stands that's not an option.
