Having gone out and looked at some of the things being posted around the site, I'm getting more and more ideas. My style is - while still very rudimentary, evolving at a pleasant rate. If anyone had any tips or suggestions they might want to share, I'm always eager to hear constructive criticism. Cheers, muh'peeps.

a lot of people submit designs that are cool drawings or whatever, but just not on a shirt. think of who's gonna wear the shirt, and what that says about the wearer (e.g. "I'm smart and witty", "I'm mysterious and subtle", "I'm a goofball with anthropomorphic food on my chest!"). For a popular and/or winning design, the concept is just as or more important as the artwork itself.

Think twice about designs with text or writing. most people will say "Lose the text", unless having a speech bubble or text absolutely makes the concept what it is (see Cat on a Skateboard). I personally generally dislike text, as it kind of forces an interpretation rather than letting someone read their own meanings into a design.

Also, make use of the Critique system. We can't give you constructive criticism if we can't see what you're working on.

oh, and don't make a design with a heart where your heart would be. waaaaaaaay overdone.

I'm just getting into design again, and figured this would be a fantastic place to work out some ideas. Criticism is always, always welcome.
