Hi!

I took some pictures from Grant Park last night during the historical event that has taken place.

They're Here!!!

What were you doing last night when they announced the results?

Cool, was there an impromptu chant of "U.S.A, U.S.A"?

you would think. but actually during the 3 hours i was down there, i did not hear any USA chanting. Only "O.BA.MA, O.BA.MA"

I'm a little scared, I'm not gonna lie. But, hey I hope he does great things. And I hope I was wrong about him. we'll see....He does know how to throw a party.

Looks amazing. The BBC were saying there was an estimated 1million people there - it must have been pretty insane!!!

What are you scared of melloruff?

What are you scared of melloruff?

I'm worried about his screwing up our economy more than it already is by driving capitol and existing business away.

And I'm worried about his complete lack of foreign policy experience, saying or doing the wrong thing to encourage our enemies and put our nation at risk.

I'm worried that he'll gut the military, and ruin our preparedness (much like Clinton did, which contributed in a great way to our inability to be ready in Iraq).

I'm worried that he'll take the War on Terror as a joke or a haliburton-scheme, let down our defenses, and innocents will get hurt.

Don't get me wrong, there would have been a lot to be scared of with a McCain administration, too. But That's the past, this is the now, and there's a lot of ways Obama could leave us royally screwed.

Oh, and somehow the fact that a bunch of democrats did't spontaneously burst into praise of the US of A isn't all that surprising to me. It's not really in their MO to be proud of their country.

Yeah, you were really unprepared for their surprise attack.

just like democrats can't be evangelical christians,
i get so tired of that line of bullshit.

All sarcasm aside, yes, the military was terribly ill prepared to fight a war after the slashing of the military budget under the Clinton adminstration.

Maybe the Bush administration should have thought about that before starting the completely justified and necessary invasion of iraq?

i don't get why every blog remotely related to the election has to turn negatively political. i mean, you can say what you want, and we all obviously know some people's viewpoints are, now. but geez. this is a blog about the event and atmosphere, not about how you feel the president elect.

anyway... i was at a venue downtown, watching with a group of people that just got insanely larger by the night's end. it was all really excited. they flashed the lights every time obama got a state win. i so wish i could've been in grant park, though! must've been a great time. was it still warm out?
tracerbullet
   tracerbullet on Nov 05 '08 at 9:03am
can we all just have some confidence that our country is moving forward in the right direction now? yes, it's an extremely long road ahead, but constant pessimism will only make things worse. let's try to see the best of the situation.

apparently there was a celebration on broad street in philadelphia about the same size as the one that happened when the phillies won the world series last week, but i didn't go. i bet it was awesome, though.

i don't get why i'm so bad about writing coherent sentences lately. i'm using wrong tenses and missing words in that last comment.

anyway. I HAD THE WORST RIP OFF DRINK LAST NIGHT! it was called a filibuster, and it was like... 4 oz of sweet crap. i thought it was a shot, but it did nothing. and it was $3. worst drink special ever.

i just got a $3 pbr (another huge rip off) to drown my sorrows :* (

they also had something called obamabombs.

such an exciting evening, though. i wish i didn't have to work today, otherwise i would've been partying all night. when we left the venue, we got many high fives from strangers walking down the street.

I'm gonna go ahead and assume you and Aled are romantically involved...

Or just an election slumber party? woo!

it was so intense the moment nbc projected obama as president. it was 9:59pm central time, and everyone in the venue was counting down the 10 seconds until the polls were closed on the west coast. as soon as it hit 10pm, nbc's prediction flashed the screen and everyone started cheering and dancing with obama at 270+ votes. so emotional.
