Around 3-4 weeks ago, Trojan was on the front page of myspace. They had a bulletin board on there and one of the titles intrigued me; "Is Underage Sex Okay?"

On the bulletin, I replied saying that underage sex was fine as long as the kids know what they are doing and what the consequences will be if something goes wrong. Also, it's hard to prevent kids from doing things like that, especially in this day and age when sex is shown in movies and newspapers. It's just that if parents keep saying "No no no", it will make the kids want to do it more.

I am now asking Threadless bloggers and users for their opinion on this subject. Is Underage Sex Okay?

Define "okay".
Morally? Physically? Socially?

Turns out that there are only 15 or so states with the age f consent set at 18. The rest are all lower, usually at 16.

Does it still count as underage sex if only one of you is underage? Because I'm all for paedophilia.

Polyester_Jones: I think okay from the bulletin I checked out meant "mentally or physically". Morally, I'd say it's not okay because the kids might regret the things the do.

I am more of a conservative Democrat. I'd say that if the kids have sex and the girl gets pregnant, it's not her right to just abort the baby. I mean, although she may have unintentionally found herself in that predicament, she willingly had sex with the guy. Therefore, just go through the 8-9 months of labor, have the child, then put it up for adoption.

The only reason I would say that it's fine for the mother to abort the child is only if it will harm the mother (she'll die giving birth) or the child (for example, it will be born with a disfigured head that will scar it's mental process).

looserbeech: I believe it is still counted as underage sex if either of the teens having sex is underage. Underage in CA would be 18.

Meh, I say it's the parent's decision whatever. Pro-choice and all that.
kirstenlovesdinner
kirstenlovesdinner on Oct 20 '07 at 5:18pm
Of course you can't really stop people from doing it. But I think kids should at least wait till they fully understand how pregnancy or stds can impact their lives.

And as for abortion, I say it's a woman's right, but if she's underage, she should need her parent's approval before doing so. If she doesn't get it, then be forced to wait it out then give it up for adoption.
christi104hsia
christi104hsia on Oct 20 '07 at 5:21pm
I was on the pro-choice side - I thought that well, the parents know everything and they should make the decision for their kids... but I realized that only 2 years ago, I could have been that pregnant teenager. What would I have done? I think although kids can make huge mistakes, they are mature enough to make their own decisions in life. :O

define underage.

besides it's not like they can make it illegal. i dont think kids should start having sex until theyre at least 18 because as old as you think 16 or 17 is...it really isnt that old, shit 18 and 19 is still freaking young, but i think at younger ages it's really easy for people to get pressured into things or not really think about what theyre doing and jump into something theyre really not ready to handle emotionally

Besides, the risks that come with sex are enormous and can stay with you for the rest of your life. Teenagers are known for = making mistakes. It's just an awful combination.

i think kids should just do what they want. ur never going 2 stop them, so after arguing a while [& losing], just let 'em go crazy. 'cause then they'll know ur rite. and thats all thats important.

I am 99% sure underage in California is under 18 years.

Kerrn, I think you are right. Since 7th grade sex ed, I haven't really heard of more sex ed of AIDS, etc. Although my high school may offer Physiology, high school does not offer a mandatory health class.

I don't think it's like the kids don't know what will happen if they have sex. I mean, if they didn't learn the consequences from their parents, their peers would have definitely discussed those situations at one point or another.

I don't think the day you hit 18 you are suddenly equipped to have responsible sex. It comes at different times for different people.

I don't think that sex is important as it's built up to be. And people are way more interested in the sex lives of others than is necessary. Having sex with someone then regretting it isn't the end of the world, and I bet there are more deaths from road accidents than AIDS. As long as you're educating kids about preventing STDs and unwanted pregnancy then it's up to them.

I hate it when I get serious in blogs.

Underage here in Canada is under 18 but you can consent to the nasty at just 14.

All Alberta highschools offer something caled "CALM" Career and Life Management in Grade 11 and its a required course to graduate. It covers some ickys and grossys from sex.

PS you all should wait to see Juno and just respond with something like "stfu homeskillet" its the greatest movie about teen sex ever (I saw it at the toronto film festival)

i dont think they do.
sure you know a penis is going to go into a vagina and more than likely it will be pleasurable and that you need to wear condoms or youll end up making a baby or having burny itchy death carrying genitals, but that doesnt mean youre ready to deal with sex. dealing with hey im permanently connected to this person for the rest of my life, whether we stay together or not, ive let this person see me at my most vulnerable and in the most intimate way. sex is a bigger deal than people make it out to be.

I thought I was really smart when I was younger.
Now I realize I was pretty naive when I was 14-18 (and especially before then).

I would save a big decision like that until a person is over 18 and smarter.

Its not good.
It happens, yes, but its not good.
Any sex outside the sanctity of marriage is wrong.
Its outside God's will, and it messes people up.
Like it or not, that is the way it is.

Bramish, to answer your question:
How is someone permanently connected to someone they have sex with for the rest of their life?!
to the best of my ability

You shared that binding "oneness" with someone. You shared your bodies, emotions, even mixed blood. You've shared a connection of spirits as well, a bond that God created to strengthen marriages and increase love.

Here, read this, and I hope it http://www.probe.org/content/view/943/169/

God bless you all!

hahahahahahahahahaha

i meant more like you cant just forget that person as easily. like they'll forever be on your count.

i think sex should be saved for people you want to always remember...but that often isnt the case, especially if you start boning when youre like 15
