Jemal McClary, born in New York learned to draw anatomy, lines and color through magazines, comic books, japanimation and became increasingly drawn to colors and imagination through observation of graffiti.

A self-taught artist, he expresses his work through spray paint and markers, the first mediums he learned and mastered; while never claiming to be a graffiti artist, rather one who simply enjoys the look and feel spray paint ads to his art.

In his most recent work McClary depicts past events, feelings and thoughts surrounding self. His depictions of urban locales and the people who live in them are infused with both parody and subtle truths. His illustrative work focuses within surreal worlds and various creative images reflecting a fascination with imagination and creativity as well as exploring human activities, which occur within.
