one of my biggest problems (among many) with this movie is that "Beowulf" is supposed to be BORING, dammit.

i'm sorry, but not every story or short story or poem or written document needs to be held on a pedestal untouched.

Who cares if Grendel's mom "isn't supposed to be" hot? (And who says so, anyway? I don't remember any goddamn description of her in Beowulf.) It doesn't matter if the movie was faithful to the book or not -- movies don't ruin books by being different from them. Movies ruin books by sucking. And from what I've heard, this movie doesn't suck, it's just different from the poem. (And if there is any story whose adaptation is free to differ from it as much as is desired, it's freaking Beowulf.)

I saw Beowulf in 3D, and I think it was FANTASTIC.
My opinion might not mean much, as I've not READ Beowulf...
But I enjoyed it enough to share my opinion anyway. It was a really good film for 3D, too. Whooooa.

I just know, you know, if someone was saying how much they loved a Batman movie in which they mocked and mangled my hero, I probably wouldn't respect their opinion quite so very much, because I believe in maintaining the integrity of the character and his world.
So, if someone were that very fond of the original form of Beowulf, and the film is so very untrue, my opinion is thus nullified.

I've loved the Beowulf poem and everything that's stemmed from it (okay, except the other Beowulf movie starring Christopher Lambert. That was more about low budget and bad acting) since I first read it in middle school, and I still believe the movie was a good adaptation of it.

If you want the poem, read the poem. It was simply a different take on it, and just because they filled in the fuzzy details with something that differs from what YOU filled them in with, doesn't make it a crap film.

That opinion just makes you sound like a stuck-up stiff who can't appreciate anything that's different from your own set of values and curriculum. Try to be a bit more open...

Anyone else feel sorry for Grendel? He's supposed to be monstrous and vile. Not one you pity and think could fall apart at a moment's notice.

I saw the movie in both 3d and plain. Some of the 3D effects were awesome, but overall, the movie sucked. The movie was very sexually charged. From the whole thing from Grendel's mom to the random people to just about everything else.

Anyways, I agree. I want to buy this and wear it to the movie.
