And I never handed out so many 1's.

Is it me, or is the majority of subs for this challenge piss poor?

Maybe its people who can't design well but want to share their mini slogans and have at least given it a go

Yeah, made a blog saying a similar thing, but slighty less direct. I got one coming. Gotta be worth a 2.

Chris Piascik has a few nice ones up, agreed.
Perhaps the better designs are still being sweated over currently and not yet subbed.

I want to do something for this if I can find the time. I hope you don't give it a 1 ;)

Nice owl by the way. I once had a pet bat that I found with 2 broken wings. It used to hang on my jumper and I would feed it milk from my finger tip. My mate tried to feed it and it bit him. I gave it to an animal rescue centre eventually and they used it for a breeding programme!

If it's good I won't give it an 1, papercrane :)

Type design is just a whole lot harder to get right than regular tee designs. Voting everything in the comp gives a good insight about what works and what not. I voted them all as a warm up for doing my own.
I'm not sure if I'm discouraged or encouraged by the low overall quality.

(NB my pet owl would have liked your pet bat quite a lot, I presume :)

Well I will do my best ;)

Yes they could have hung out together at night. Unless you were implying that it would have liked to eat it. In which case I think it would have been a bit of a mouthful for the little thing, being a Noctule Bat - one of the Uk's largest bat species.
I also reared a baby grass snake back to health after being ridden over by my friend's mum's bicycle. Your owl would probably have enjoyed eating that!

^I'm probably hopelessly out of touch, but I don't get that sub? At least it's well drawn.
Tonteau
   Tonteau on Jul 22 '11 at 8:52am
That's not about the text, though. It's a well drawn pun on where's wally/sadam hussein. But it's not really about the text.

Hey, could i use some suggestions from you since i'm doing an idea for the challenge?
Here's my blog if you want to help.
Thanks!

My pending design isn't really about the text , but the text ties it together. I'm not really sure how well it will do but I am happy with it. I do agree, I think a lot of them are kind of random, the text and graphic don't seem to tie together well.

To be fair, the design isn't about just "text". It says very specifically: "Your challenge is to create a tee with 3 words or less on it!"

If you take that literally, a sub with an image and 0 words fits the rules too... just saying

I see what you are saying. But just text? I dunno, I was working on something like this for the comp, but now you've made me reconsider:

I might just sub it as a regular submission if that is the case.
gumbolimbo
   gumbolimbo on Jul 22 '11 at 11:33am
Listen, yeah. I don't make the rules here, but I'd say illustrative elements should be ok, but the text should be the main focal point. Yours should fall in that bandwith.

Having said that, 'just text' can be super exciting visually, sometimes more so than illustrative designs. Just have a look at tesco's disbeliefdesign and you'll agree.

Yeah, that is a great design. I have several photographs that I'm going to sub, but probably won't do well.
