I'm kinda bored in my tame dutch city. I kinda consider going to central st. Martins (art college in London) to do a summer course. Just for the hell of it.

I could do an obvious illustration course, but perhaps it's more interesting to pick something (slightly) outside of my regular field.

What would you pick?

Illustrating Comics and Graphic Novels[ 11/07/2011 - 15/07/2011 ]

letter press printing! [ 03/08/2011 - 05/08/2011 ]

Silkscreen Printing [ 01/08/2011 - 05/08/2011 ]

(There are A lot more options, just browsing through them as we speak.)

There's also the small matter of where to stay, but that should be manageable.

Yay! Do it!

All of them sound awesome - but the letter press or screen-printing ones might be best in terms of practical knowledge that is difficult to learn when not in a workshop

Letterpress would be awesome.

The graphic novels course sounds interesting and a pretty exciting prospect. But the others sound good too. Silkscreen printing course would be awesome.

silkscreen is perhaps a bit more practical as you can develop it after the course (a bit harder with letterpress, as the contraption isn't exactly widely available)

The comics and graphic novels one sounds the best.

Kinda narrowed it down to comics/screenprint, but I'll have to look at the dates too.

Is London flatlined (all tourists & no citizens) during holiday season, or is it still pleasant enough?

it'll still be alright.

London stays busy with locals over the summer and there's also increase in tourism over the summer - but I wouldn't say it was any more noticeable than usual. Seems to be more tourists now than ever in Central London (owing to the Royal Wedding) - but you're better coming this summer than 2012 when the Olympics are on! :)

Abi, I think it'll be either the letterpress or silkscreen.
(The comics one looks a bit short notice to get it all sorted. )

Looking into flights right now to see if it's affordable.

Exciting! It's good that you can't do the comics one (for me, anyway) as we are away that week and I want to take you for beers! :)
