A set of 7 handprinted arty farty postcards (limited edition 150 sets)

Press Thumbs Here

It's not so easy to put a tag on it, because, unlike posters, people see it as an usage good, and they may pay $ 40 for 1 poster, but defenitely not $40 for 7 postcards!

Then again, I don't think asking wall mart prices is the answer either. What would you see as a reasonable price?

How much will it cost to print?

hard to say, butr I guess around 250-300 euro's.
They are printed with obsolete 50s printing technique & machines, so they're not as cheap as offset.

I buy postcards off Kurt Halsey's website from time to time when he makes them; usually his sets of 4 are like $15 shipped, which is pretty cheap, I think. Granted, his aren't limited to a certain number.

I wouldn't balk at $30 for a set of 7 limited edition ones plus flat-pack shipping. Let me know if you do these; I'd get a set!

So it cost you 2 euros per set? I think $20 would be an OK price.

thanks bcrider!, they are getting printed this week and they will be sold nexth month and onwards.
I think $30 is a bit steep for most, even though its justifiable.
I was thinking along the lines of 12 euros/$16 for the set, excluding shipping.

It depends who's gonna buy them. The fact you're using old techniques doesn't mean much to the average shopper, but to a design savvy crowd they'd be more appreciated and therefore more likely to get a bigger price.

well, they are going to be put in small comic and poster stores and such. A bit undergroundish I guess.
I'm not targetting mainstream crowds and can't possibly compete with the cheap massmarket hallmark stuff and wouldn't want to.

I'd get a copy of Wallpaper* and find a stockist that sells that sort of design orientated stuff for high prices, don't undersell the work because it's brilliant.

€12-15 for a set + standart shipment sounds reasonable

yeah i would have thought $20-25 per set
you got to find the middle ground between overpricing and underestimating yourself and the work you put in, cause they're really nice

I really think $20 would be a great price. :)

I already got this snazzy hat to increase my artist market value.

Trouble is I can't position my nicely hatted self next to postcard all day to convince people from artistic value of said cards.

I would easily pay $30 for something like this, shipping incl.

So, you guys basically say I'm a tad on the low side then?

Sweet typography! Love your style! 12 € for the set and less than 2 € per card isn't much. With the limited edition and the special printing technique I would go for a higher price. 19.99 € + shipping!

Realistically, I'm thinking $15-25 each if they're signed and numbered.

If they ARE each signed and numbered, then yeah, higher for sure. Don't sell yourself short!!!

I don't think you have to convince people! The artistic value of these cards shows!

Yesterday, I've contacted 2 shops that sell underground prints and comics and vinyl characters, and both would like to sell my cards, so that's all good. I'll have a chat with them about the pricing too.

As you advised, I'll be numbering the sets with a numeroteur, to make it apparent that it's a limited edition.

Oh, and I'm not going the online shop/etsy route for now, but will make exception for threadless people to have them available with paypal option.
Davidfromdallas can pay in e-hugs :)
