Yay! I'ts great to be one of the winners of the Democracy design challenge and to see the printed results.

As of the proces that led to this design: I decided to go for a little fable, in the tradition of Aesoph, to shed some light on a democratic process with the aid of an animal story. The hardest part was to tell the story in one image only without the use of text!

The tale tells about a group of animals voting about whether or not a tree should be taken down to make place for a barn. The sloth, hanging out in its tree and dozing off, is missing out of the chance to vote and therefore to tilt over the referendum outcome to his own advantage.

Several people asked about which side will win, but it is an open ended story. Maybe the sloth puts his vote in on time, maybe the deer changes her mind, I don't know! Its up to the viewer to fill in the end.

Thank you very much Threadless and voters!
I hope you like the printed results.
I also want to congratulate Joe and Ericka with their awesome looking winners, you've done a great job!

It also works with the interpretation that either way he casts vote the tree is still his home, be it a barn or just a tree. If he votes yellow, they'll turn his home into a home. If he votes red, they'll let his home remain a home.

Well... not really, because sloths live in trees, not barns. o_O
