Just in case anyone is ever bored enough to stumble across this site and see that I registered on it, here's a post. I'm not an artist, so you'll never see any designs from me. I got the account because I have some friends who submit designs here and if they get printed then I'll buy their stuff to help them out.

My friend qball has a cafepress shop that you should check out www.cafepress.com/kid_a

My friend jack submits designs here. His id is jacklmoore

Whenever I'm randomly browsing through designs, I tend to give high scores. Even the stuff I'm not crazy about I give 3's usually. I'm just one of those people who can't be too judgemental on struggling artists trying to create honest work, especially when I'm forced seeing the horrible crap that the mainstream is into (after all, I run a Blockbuster, so if you want to know about movies no one could consider art, I'm your man)

About me: live in Savannah, I'm a libertarian trying to get involved with the Ron Paul campaign even though I work 60+ hrs/wk, have a business degree and hopefully will go off to grad school next year.

Cheers,

Josh

"I have some friends who submit designs here and if they get printed then I'll buy their stuff to help them out."

I think the 2,000 dollars they would get from Threadless if they win helps them out more than you buying their shirt. But I'm sure Threadless would appreciate if you bought ANY of their shirts, not just ones from people you know. (also, posting lame cafepress sites is kind of a no - no around here)

I know Threadless pays them (whoever gets printed) and that they (Threadless) gets my money if I buy a shirt, and I actually have 5 or 6 shirts from strangers marked "I'd buy it, let me know if it wins" so I am contributing to the community...what I mean by buy a friend's shirt to help them out is the whole marketing aspect of it:

random person I meet anywhere in the world: that's a pretty cool shirt! where'd you get it?
me: threadless. look up (friend's id, or anyone else whose stuff I buy) and pick one up.

In regards to your "also", there doesn't seem to be any real rules to this site. Browsing the comments of random designs I come across, it's full of contradictory things like "Political designs don't do well here. Shouldn't push people's buttons" vs. "I like how random this site is, all the shirts printed lately are too preachy and focus too much on messages", or "You know you really shouldn't tweak your design and resubmit it. Threadless frowns upon that" vs. "I love the changes you made since the first submission; this will probably win." So quite honestly sir (assuming sir by your avatar, not actually taking the time to glance at your profile) you and your bullshit can fuck off. You are indeed a right twit.

Have a nice day.

Thanks bhoomika. We libertarians have a hard road ahead of us here in the Bible Belt, trying to restore common sense and small government to a people I fear are too willing to be led around by their collective noses.

That seemed rather harsh.

Maybe. But combine how unconstructive his greeting is and how people like that who seem really sarcastic on websites are always overly pretentiously full of themselves (as if anyone in the 'real world' cares what someone on a random internet site thinks anyways) with the damage that working customer service does to one's patience with folks like he i just mentioned, and sometimes civility flies out the window a bit too soon.

But yeah, of course I posted my buddy's link; I've bought three of his shirts, "get" his sense of humor, and try to spread the love. That same friend I know has an id on Threadless and did once or twice submit a design, but I don't remember his id on here, else I would have posted that instead. The friend whose Threadless id I did post has so far been opposed to selling nonchosen designs on a Cafepress-esque site simply because of the marketing/networking work he would have to put into it while not necessarily knowing enough people to have a wildly popular site. I tend to do whatever I can to help the underdogs (donated money this week to the Savannah chapter of the Ron Paul campaign, since I'm much too busy unfortunately to donate my time) but I guess I still have to learn to play nice with the obnoxious.

But yes, no offense meant to anyone who was not that poster.
