BioShock is the last thing I think of when I see this shirt. It's way too abstract but I guess that's what people like these days. The more far out and "artsy" the better. Something with a big daddy and a little sister would be better. This just looks like a t-shirt for a band.

Grace, I just went to your page and saw pictures of you taken at strange camera angles. I knew it, scene kids like this stuff.

don't post a blog complaining about someone's design. that's dumb. and rude. if you do not like the shirt, do not buy it. it's that easyy.

I like this shirt and I have it too.

And I most certainly would not consider myself to be a scene kid.

To each their own.

Eh, I'm entitled to my own opinion. Play BioShock yourself and realize that looking at this t-shirt won't really make you think of the game at all.

From the Loves Threadless page: Each "Loves Threadless" competition offers up a theme to help inspire your tee design.

Not every winning design is meant to reflect what the band/game/company is about it's just supposed to reflect what the designer got from the theme. The theme for the BioShock competition was "Descent into Rapture" and so that was what came out of it. Threadless doen't want you to really look at a shirt and think of BioShock or Gmail or anyother Loves Threadless.

And yes, you are entitled to your own opinion.

Ok, the theme is "Decent into Rapture" and the t-shirt is named "The Leftover". The theme is descending into rapture, which would mean somebody is entering the undersea city of Rapture. A little sister being left over doesn't really relate to descending into rapture. A little sister being left over sounds more like somebody left the city rather than entered it.

The theme doesn't have to dictate what the design will be. It's just something for the designers to get inspiration from.

If you haven't noticed, few if none of the winners for the Loves Threadless competitions follow the theme word for word. Just because the theme was "Descent into Rapture" doesn't meant that there had to be a winning sub of someone literally descending rapture.

Check out the other Loves competitions and maybe you'll get a better idea of what it's all about

Nah, I've played Bioshock, and it makes me think of the little sisters.

It's not some kind of splitting-image, screenshot-ted representation of the game, but it combines some of the different parts of the game to make it into this rockin' T-shirt design.

In short, I like it.

actually. this reminds me a lot of bioshock. while its not blatant, the theme is still there.

you aren't at home, but oddly it all makes sense

First, this shirt was released before anyone played Bioshock. I remember seeing this shirt months ago. And after playing the game and looking at it again I was like "Oh, of course!" You have the little girl, a broken down city, she's listening to music that is suggested from the same time period as Bioshock is set in and people in period dress are dancing - Bioshock was filled with references to a dance, and filled with music. She's listening to the phonograph and is enRAPTUREd by the music. And I don't know if you are aware of this or not but Rapture is a word unto itself and does not necessarily mean "fictional city in video game."

usually, people who wear shirts of bands or games don't wear it just to let others know to like that thing, it's so that they can wear something they enjoy.

as a person who has never played that game, i would never know that was for bioshock. i can see the point he makes in saying that if the theme names a place in the game and that is ignored, that's just silly. obviously, someone who also never played the game designed this shirt.

non literal or not, someone who is actually a fan would have been less ambiguous.

as someone who's played through BioShock numerous times, this shirt totally reminds me of the game. the entire game centered around what to do about little sisters, and clearly depicted here is a girl of about the same age, trying to remember what things were like before they went so very wrong. the 'good' path of the game centered entirely around giving the little sisters a chance to claim the beauty that was robbed from them, which is exactly what this little girl is doing with the slideshow. and i agree with a lot of these other posts - i'm a bigtime gamer, work in a video game shop, but still wouldn't want to wear a t-shirt covered in a big daddy. it's just too blatant. i'd much rather rock this, and when asked the question, respond 'it's a bioshock shirt'.
