i wouldn't put a stroke on the text unless the printing format requires it. also, under your stroke preferences on illustrator, change the way the stroke handles corners and the paintbrush wouldn't look so choppy. the pencil seams fine. try different placements of the "art supplies, like above the text. It makes "bradford" harder to read when it is running through it.
@dannodepf: Thanks for the feedback. I probably should have messed with the stroke ends. The stroked text was mostly for personal reasons but I think it also adds to the readability?
i just always was told to not put a stroke on text unless it's absolutely necessary because it effects legibility. maybe others have been told differently.
I was really confused with the last comment to gtoast. lol.
oh, i was also told that if i put a stroke on a text to have two layers of text. the bottom layer had the stroke, and the top layer did not, so that the stroke isn't condensing the size/shape of the letterform.
That's how I do it. I always copy and paste the text behind, and then stroke the layer underneath. I think it might look better with a white stroke on the text, actually.
