do you know which came first?

that ebay seller could have been printing that shirt for years. or not.

it isn't an idea so original that two people couldn't have come up with it

but i will admit it is a little odd that both the buns have seeds, and the burgers have the same ingredients in the same order

He has a few threadless tee design variations in his store, but I guess you don't know which came first with those either.

You gotta be kidding.

And the faces are almost exactly the same, and the wording is exactly the same, and the text bubble is almost exactly the same...

Well I guess ill speak now... if that is ok.

First off we only print about 10% of our designs. Most are bought from suppliers and we resell. The ones you speak of are not printed by us. However sayings are not copy protected unless there trademarked. And none of the ones on threadless are. As for the burger its only in violation if they used the same art. And they did not. In fact the meat is murder saying came from an ep. of the Simpson's long before it was here on threadless. Its the t-shirt business and it happens. Consider it flattery, I would.

"as for the burger its only in violation if they used the same art."

There would be a shitload of copyright lawyers and myself that would disagree with you. It is absolutely clear that the work you are selling is a direct derivative of my own intellectual copyright, and there have been countless examples of people charged in very similar situations.

Infact in one instance the winner of an adobe design contest used an old painting of an indian as a base for his work, and there was huge controversy which went to court about the breach of copyright in that instance.

You should probably stop talking to artists as if we don't know anything about our work.

i think it looks better on blue

it looks shithouse on blue. The red also eludes to a specific fast food giant, and is a general fast food associated colour.

so bottle, did you want to talk to me about who your supplier of that range is? or did you want me to claim copyright on ebay (which I own, can prove that I own, and is automatically trademarked by threadless) and lodge an official complaint against your whole ebay shopfront?

Considering your amount of feedback you must be getting in some money, it would be a pity to potentially severely damage your online income. But it doesn't bother me one bit.

I have been in the industry. Countless great ideas are recycled by different companies over and over. The best you can hope for is to be the first place to print it (then feel flattered its so good that people start copying it)-in this case you were.

I wouldn't dwell on it, it's one idea, there are countless good ones out there waiting to be had (and then subsequently copied, over and over).

those aren't just recycled ideas - in some cases it's exact art.

no blue, its people profiting from things that arent theirs. It shouldn't be tolerated just because it's hard to do much about it.
