!!!RIP OFF ARTIST STEALING WORK - PLEASE HELP!!!

Hey Peeps,

Caught this dude on Society6 ripping off well known Threadless artists including myself and thought I might take a stronger stance on this matter. I don't mind that one piece was inspired by another artist but this dude has shown time and time again that he is willing to steal other art, poorly recreate it, and sell it as his own.

Please help by promoting this blog any way that you can. I appreciate the help!

I don't know, maybe it's my legalistic mind but I can't get outraged by this type of stuff. Don't get me wrong - blatant stealing, like tracing/copy+pasting/etc. are wrong. I feel like it's not good to rush to judgments with ideas being possibly copied. I understand it offends some, but the Lincoln/Cat en la Hat example there shows a certain point.

Just because A looks like B, it doesn't mean one was copied from the other. I don't mean to defend the work of the guy in question - I am not going to go CSI on this - just hopefully the broader point is taken from this.

well, it DOES make sense to make him aware that his method to "find" ideas is questionable (of course, we are all influenced by each other by a certain degree, but he is obviously more than influenced) so he can use his talents in a better way, right? He can create good images - why not encourage him to use that with his own ideas more :-)

Really @SuperRyan? I am outraged by your non outrage.
I think you might find this a little less of a grey area if he ripped off one of your ideas, especially if it were one that were well received or printed.

This is not borrowing this is not inspiration,
this is stealing, there is a difference.

As far as Phil's Cat in the hat example, that is not stealing that is
using Cat in the Hat as inspiration and transforming it into something else, therefore creating an idea.

My point was that coincidences do happen and people sometimes jump to conclusions. (this is an observation in general and not directed to anyone.)

This seems more than a little a series of unfortunate coincidences and more like a hefty dose of outright theft to me. I noticed the S6 "Rip off artist" post, but what else can be done? cut his hands off? put links to the ripped off work on 'his' designs, has S6 been written to?
This is a sad state of affairs.
