i don't understand why people hate bill maher so much. he just points out how ridiculous some people are. he barely even needs to write his material; people are dumb enough that it's already written for him.

I think he exploits people that may be somewhat ignorant or less knowledgeable for merely entertainment purposes.

Do you people even WATCH his show? It is consistently the best place to find people from all walks of life and the political spectrum have an honest and thought-provoking debate, and also one of the ONLY places you'll hear smart people throwing intense questions at one another. He also readily concedes to the "other" sides when he agrees with them or they make a valid point to change his mind, and ALWAYS has a fantastic way to bring the panel back from the brink of crazy with a concise and point that I usually agree with.

I'm not into his thoughts against marriage and when a joke bombs on his painful opening dialog (he needs to just axe that shit, he's so much better on his feet or in stand-up) he seems to blame the audience, but other than that, the man is amazing.

He also apologizes to the Republicans and etc that come on his show when they get excessively booed by his audience ON air all the time. I think that's a very cool thing to do and thanks them for "coming into the lion's den".

I saw it a week or two ago in a sneak preview deal... A lot of it was ballsy, a fair amount of it was entertaining, but I wasn't particularly impressed with the beginning (which felt like an ad for the movie you're already watching) or the ending (which felt like too much of "this is what I, Bill Maher, personally feel, and fuck you all, we're all going to die").

Worth seeing, and in all, more "respectful" to religious people than haters might expect.
