This design looks strikingly similar to my design:

I'm not saying it's a copy, but it's just funny that this idea was submitted months after mine was released. ::shrugs:: Oh well. Whatcha gonna do?

no it dosn't it is because both are based on test to see i people are colorblind for fuck sake

kypade on Oct 19 '05 at 5:59pm
well, it's hardly like making fun of colorblind people through those test things is an uncommon idea...everyone has seen them, so recreating it and hiding something in there where the number would be isnt a far stretch. though it does kinda suck for you. :o :/

I'm not saying he ripped it, and I'm not saying that I created the "Colorblind Test", I'm just saying that my portrayal of the design has been around for a while. That's all I'm saying, 'For Fuck Sake."

I've been kicking myself for the past few days, as I also made a design similar to this, about two years ago, when I first joined threadless. (it's actually even more similar to yours, as I had almost the same colors in my design, hehe) I was going to submit it, but since I have absolutely no confidence, I decided it wasn't good enough and never did :/ then I saw this design a few days ago and thought "DAMMIT." ah well, I think this guy did a good job executing it.

I think I might still make my design on my own, since it is different (in terms of the message), and no one owns the copyright to the colorblind test, as it's been touched upon. haha

and for what it's worth, I didn't think you were accusing him or anything. and I understand you pointing it out, because while it IS something that most people have seen in their lifetime, I've only seen like, under five parodies/interpretations of them in design, prior to this. so it's still not a very commonly used idea.

Your shirts are good *although you need larger zooms*. Just not that closely related to this one. You could have been inspired by the threadless design for all we know. Its impossible to know for sure.

When you are both playing off the same color blindness test it bound to look the same. It like two designs mimicing an eye chart. no shit they look the same.

Um... They're both based off of the test for color-blindness... Of course they're going to look the same...

YES, YOU NEED TO HEAR IT OVER AND OVER AGAIN, MWAHAHAHA!!!

you certainly seem a bit more confrontational about the situation on your website...

"Oh well. Whatcha gonna do?"

Yeah, what are you gonna do? Maybe you'll have to go and make a version of another old cliche so that when someone inevitably has the same idea you can get pissy about that too.

As iter_veritatis mentioned what you have to say about this on your website is rather more hostile - and frankly it's complete bullshit.

Plagiarism is a serious issue, but you have to have an original idea before you can be "ripped off".

that is you

If you aren't saying he "ripped it" then why is it listed on the "rip offs" page from your site? Nevermind the fact that that color blind test has been around for years or that his color pallet is completely different from yours.

Like 17 of you all said " They're both based off of the test for color-blindness... Of course they're going to look the same..."

I never said I invented the "Color Blind" test as you so aptly put it.

I"m saying that I had the CONCEPT first. Of course two people drawing a car, it's going to look like a car. So two people designing an Ishihara Test are going to look similar. It's not the artwork I'm complaining about, it's the idea behind it. That's all.

And also, I took the 'Rip Off's section of my website down, simply because it made me sound bitter, and I'm not a bitter person. :)

Blonde8007: Thank you for your kind words.

I just really doubt that this person got their idea from you. It's the kind of idea that multiple people would come up with independently of each other.
stickymike
   stickymike on Dec 10 '05 at 12:56am
yeh, its not like its the most original idea in the world

on top of that, there was that stupid color blind scare flash test going around, im sure that could have sparked something

I just think you need to get over yourself here Steve its not worth it

You're not old enough to have had the concept first. Get over yourself.
