I think Illustrator paths are Fourier Descriptors. Does anybody know whether they are or not?

Maybe when I have time, I'll make a longer, better blog about Fourier Descriptors.

I'm trying to get my head around fourier descriptors, there is no wiki page :(

the vectors in illustrator are generated through algorithms, I have no idea whether these algorithms have any thing to do with fourier descriptors. however from my pathetic 10min internet research, I think the live trace feature in illustrator might have something to do with fourier descriptors - image recognition.

Cool. I just learned about Fourier descriptors in my image processing class. I can write a blog about them, if it's true that they're relevant to people here!

Oh, my friend says that Illustrator paths are actually Bezier curves. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B%C3%A9zier_curve

Fourier descriptors are still cool!

Hm, I can make that into a clickable link...
