I really like this but I am so curious about the obvious Disney rip off. This is not the first time I have seen this on Threadless ( E.T., star wars, My little pony, etc. ) and I am just wondering how it works? Anybody know how you get away with it? I have some ideas that would use obvious copyrighted material and wonder what my boundaries are.

they're not disney characters. they're simply drawn in a similar style.

it's not even a style that is only associated with Disney. These types of characters were popular everywhere in the 20's/30's and so on.

The biggest problem with this shirt is that it's already been done back in 2008:

So in this sense it a bit of plagiarism, but off of another t-shirt.

Plagiarism: Using another person’s work without giving credit.

In his design description he mentions he was inspired by old cartoons so that sounds like giving credit to me.

I dont think this design has already been done. The other design is completely different. Same concept, different approach.

@Heidi:

Well actually in your original post you did come across as being rather accusatory and ignorant. Hence the annoyance of others.
