I'm new at this, I'd love some tips. I work with "The Gimp."

One concern I have is that my pictures apear to look sloppy when cropped, (i.e. Profile Picture) even though I save as 160x120. Is there a prefered file type to save with best results.

Any other tips and hints would be greatly appriciated. =)
