Kinda awkward, I agree. But I'll get over it.

Just cut the bottom three or so inches of fabric and you have a nice ummm, one of those shirts that's short and shows your belly.

get the girly shirt - nothing wrong with shorter sleeves

Isn't it exactly the same as the girl's? Just Jef's a big guy and Brianne isn't.

There you go again with your "Jef's bigger than Brianne" crackpot theory

It looks like the guy's shirt has significantly less space between the top part and the bottom, but i'm not 100% sure. It certainly looks a lot boxier, but that might depend a little on the size/pose of the models.

How feasible is it to just buy a women's shirt instead? I don't know how a men's medium translates into women's sizes, or how awkward the fit would be. I don't mind sleeve length, but would there be too much fabric for my chest?

one quick afterthought: i've been known to be able to slip into a kid's 10-12, if the accident may... not that i'd buy the kid's size for this one, it looks more awkward even than the guys. but i don't know if that helps figure things out at all - i would say kid's 10-12 is the smallest i can go and still be comfortable

I take a girly XL (quite close fitting) and find the men's medium a good but slightly looser fit if that helps you on sizing.

is the fit awkward at all though?

The sleeves are shorter. That the major difference. And I think the bottom is a little smaller. I own both men's medium and girly xl, and the sleeves were noticeably short, but it's not really a problem. Overall I much prefer the fit of the girly xl.

I don't think they tend to cut the girly shirts to fit around a girl's curves. They use the tube-knit thing rather than side seams which probably tends towards a more uniform width. Women are forever complaining that they squish their boobs and stuff. That said, AA seems to be quite inconsistent and somewtimes uses side seams so these might have a more awkward shape. I'm most worried about the length in the girlies, though girls are always complaining about that too. I think most say too long, but some disagree. Everyone's got their own preference. Also watch out for shrinkage cos they are 100% cotton and more prone to that sort of thing if you need to use a dryer. All you can really do is try I guess.

That would be nice because I hate Fruit of the Loom shirts and only buy them when its a absolutely must have design (which happens all the time).
