i would really like to earn a living as a professoinal skateboarder, but thats not going to happen.

i like to run, but i wont be able to earn a living off of that.

anything involving art would be cool, but then i would have to beg on the streets.

ive flown little cessnas in the past (as it i was the pilot and my instructor was the copilot.) but if i crashed it i would not want all of those people to be dead because of me.

i like to act and do that on and off. that would be okay. and not like celebrity acting, but theater.

life seems so boring as an adult.

but then again you get to drink smoke and make out w/o having to look behind you and make sure no parents are looking. hahah.

-blustery saturday.

haha alvin! i wanted to be a paleontologist after seeing jurassic park, a computer animator, and a teacher. i remember specifically saying when i was in 3rd grade that i didn't intend to become an artist, because it was a financially stagnant career choice.

I found something i wrote in elementary school that said I wanted to be an artist, so that kind of worked out.
Chipmnk
Chipmnk on Mar 15 '08 at 4:00pm
I also wanted to be an artist. We did self-portraits in elementary school and I made myself look like a black kid.

But I want to be a writer and that's an artistic medium I excel in, even though it's pretty easy to call yourself a writer. Just carry a notebook around with you and seem very contemplative about things.

What kind of a writer, Alvin?
kayceislost
kayceislost on Mar 15 '08 at 4:05pm
in elementary school i wanted to be a an artist/scientist (both at the same time), then when i was doing the school newspapers comic strips i wanted to do that when i grew up. i also wanted to be a writer, and got a few things published as a kid... then in middle/high school i wanted to either be a designer, a musician (then later a concert bassoonist), a geneticist, or again, a writer. Then I decided I wanted to do everything. Or anything dealing with expressing and communicating ideas and thoughts with others creatively...

Then I picked graphic design as a major.

At one point I also wanted to be a cook, and a bird.

Chipmnk
Chipmnk on Mar 15 '08 at 4:06pm
Chris: No idea really. I've dabbled in poetry and short stories (even though I have yet to actually complete any of the stories I start). I just know that it feels good to write and it's one of the few things I can do well.

Other things I can do well is make fried rice and English muffin pizzas.

But I'm pretty happy being the mediocre nineteen (almost twenty) year old college student that I am.

Jackanapes mk.II
Jackanapes mk.II on Mar 15 '08 at 4:16pm
Yes, in a way, Malcolm, everyone is.

Which is part of "the problem" of wanting "to be a writer." Whatever that means.

How do you know you're really good?

Besides, unless I'm good enough to stand the test of time (read, "centuries"), I'll be disappointed--not that if I'm not "famous" I'll be disappointed. It's only about wanting to be good and knowing when/if I'm good.

In fact, I'm "working" on an epic.

When I was 11, my only role model other than my parents was Ernesto Che Guevara. He left quite a mark on my young impressionable mind, even if I didn't fully understand Communism at the time. It's more of his personality that I liked, rather than his political standing.
